Sadness struck Salerno as 26 bodies were laid to rest in the Salerno Monumental Cemetery on Friday.
The bodies which were recovered from the Mediterranean sea on November 3, were all female between 14 and 30 years old and two pregnant women.
25 of the bodies were confirmed to have drowned while one died due to severe injuries.
Local Schools were asked to hold a minute of silence, while light displays in the city centre will be switched off on Friday evening in remembrance.

Each coffin was marked with victim's name, in attendance were military guards, journalists and local politians.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian government has taken step to investigate the death of those bodies.
